WORDPRESS WEB DESIGN NORTHERN BEACHES
Allambie Heights Village is a retirement village and aged care facility located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. They had a very old WordPress website that had been designed around 6 years prior and therefore wasn’t mobile-friendly and had a very dated appearance (see below). Thankfully, much of the content on the old website was still relevant, it just needed a refresh to ensure it was search engine friendly and included any relevant keywords. Unfortunately the old website was too out of date to work with so I recommended upgrading to a new WordPress website with a responsive design so it looked great on all devices. With this in mind I created a fresh, vibrant website that was in keeping with their brand. Importantly, because their clientele is largely an older audience, it was paramount the website was very easy to navigation and featured a larger font size. The website contained a lot of content so a simple navigation structure was also important.
I added a series of new features that weren’t on their old website including:
- a built-in blog where they can feature Village news and coming events plus helpful retirement and aged care news;
- a mobile-friendly Google Maps listing to assist people trying to find the village;
- click-to-call buttons and links; and
- several photo galleries;
The aim of these new features was to add calls-to-action throughout the website thereby encouraging people to contact the Village. Secondly, I wanted visitors to the website to get an insight into this beautiful Village so it was the next best thing to actually visiting it in person.
The new WordPress website came with built in content management functionality so the Allambie Heights Village staff can update and maintain their website in-house. I provide a total of 3 hours face-to-face training with several members of their team to acquaint them with the new website.
And finally, I optimised the website for search engine ranking (SEO) to ensure it attracted a high Google ranking for a broad range of keywords and keyword search phrases relating to their industry and the services offered.
