WIX to WordPress websites Sydney.
When starting her business, Sydney birth doula Danae Cappelletto, had created a website using the WIX platform. As is often the case, she wasn’t able to optimise the WIX website so it ranked on Google so she didn’t receive any new business.
Whilst WIX is a great tool for budget-conscious start-up businesses to create their own websites, in its simplicity, it’s difficult for people who are unfamiliar with search engine optimisation to optimise their website to achieve a ranking on Google.
The WIX website wasn’t appearing anywhere on Google
When Danae contacted me to discuss working on a new website for her, I ran some tests and found that Google didn’t even know her website existed. Her website wasn’t appearing anywhere in Google’s search results – not even on page 20!
Initially, Danae hoped I could optimise her existing WIX website so it ranked on Google. I explained that I couldn’t achieve the results she required with WIX. WordPress was the best option for her needs.
WordPress powers approximately one-third of all websites globally. It is a cost-effective solution for budget-conscious businesses however is powerful enough to host some of the world’s biggest corporate websites. Its potential is endless.
Danae agreed and I started working on her new WordPress website immediately.
Whilst working on the new website, I did this in a test environment. This kept her old website live to the public whilst I was developing the new one. At no time did her clients see a website under construction.
The new website design provided the opportunity to make some design tweaks to Danae’s brand. I refreshed what she had created when initially starting her business, upgrading to a more professional (yet still personal).
Keyword research and SEO
I copied all the content over from Danae’s WIX website to the new WordPress website. In accordance with my keyword research, there was additional information that I recommended be added to boost our keyword relevancy for a wider range of search terms used by potential customers searching for doula services.
Danae was keen to continue managing her new website herself. One of the benefits of Wordress is that it comes with built-in content management functionality. This allows businesses to update their website in-house via an easy-to-use Dashboard. With a little bit of WordPress training over the phone, Danae was confident to add and amend information on her website.
And finally, the website was submitted to the search engines for crawling and is now, for the first time, appearing on Google and making its way through the search engine rankings for a wide range of keywords and keyword search terms.
