New website for Mudgee farmers.
In 2025, I completed the development of a new e-commerce website for farmers and bulk meat suppliers, MGF Meats, a paddock-to-plate business with farms in Mudgee and the Northern Rivers / Tweed Coast.
This project combined powerful e-commerce functionality with a user-friendly backend and built-in SEO strategy to meet the needs of a growing business offering fresh, bulk meat delivery directly from farm to consumer.
The mission of MGF Meats is to reduce the cost of living for families by offering affordable, high-quality bulk meat, all while keeping Australian-raised meat in Australia. Their delivery range extends from Brisbane to Sydney, offering flexibility and convenience to customers across NSW. It was important their new website reflected their values and offerings.
WordPress with e-commerce functionality
This new website was developed using the WordPress platform, chosen for its flexibility, scalability, and user-friendly interface.
As a website developer, WordPress gives me the freedom to tailor the site to the client’s unique business model while ensuring they could easily self-manage their own website in-house. This included adding new content, and process orders without ongoing technical support.
To handle and manage the e-commerce (shopping cart) functionality required, I integrated WooCommerce. WooCommerce provides a full suite of e-commerce tools that I was able to tailor to the client’s meat delivery model. This includes:
- Secure online ordering and payments
- Delivery management based on service areas
- Custom product variations (by cut, weight, and packaging)
- Customer accounts and order tracking
- Inventory control and fulfilment workflows
- Mobile-friendly cart and checkout experience
Custom website development
The MGF Meats website was not a one-size-fits-all model. The unique nature of their business model required custom programming and advanced logic to handle delivery scheduling, product configuration, and future scalability. I built a tailored solution that supports both current operations and anticipated growth, with the flexibility to evolve as the business expands whilst still staying within their budget.
A solid organic SEO and content strategy
To ensure the website performs well in search engines and attracts the right customers, I implemented a strong organic SEO foundation across the site. This included:
- Extensive keyword research and optimisation based on relevant buyer search terms
- An SEO-friendly website structure
- Fast-loading, mobile-optimised design for improved user experience and Core Web Vitals
- Keyword rich content that supported customer-related keywords and search terms
A solid SEO stragegy ensured the website was visible on Google quickly and started driving sales. Importantly, a solid SEO foundation means the website will support a long-term growth without relying on expensive paid ads (Google Adwords, Facebook advertising, etc).
WordPress training and support
I conducted multiple training sessions with the clients to ensure they could confidently self-manage their own website. Training included adding new products, editing pages, publishing blog posts, and processing orders. My goal is always to hand over a website that empowers the client, not locks them into dependency or costly maintenance contracts.
A clever content strategy
The website features a blog designed to guide customers through the buying process. This included the benefits of buying direct from farmers, and updates on delivery schedules. This not only builds customer trust but also supports the overall SEO strategy by providing helpful, keyword-rich content that search engines love.
